This was a year of baby raising and grant writing and survey designing. It's all kind of a blur now... just a few years later.
Above: In the summer of 1998 an ordinary driver license renewal produced this image, marred by the security features of the new California licenses. Simply elevating the license above the scanner glass produced a reasonably good image.
