It would have been in the spring of 1973 that we shot passport photos for our family's second (and for me, last) trip to Sweden and Europe (summer 1973).
Did this 14 year old 8th grader like having to share a passport with his mother? No he did not.
In the period between 1972 and 1974 (below) I occasionally turned my camera on myself.
Above: Self reflection in GTO bumper, while avoiding people at a wedding. (circa 1972-74)

Above: Three flash time-exposure in our garage. (circa 1973-74)
Above: Self reflection in car window, while hiding from the crowd at my first Jewish wedding. (circa 1972-74) People have sometimes asked what I was hiding from, to which I answer that, if you have to ask why a person would hide, you probably wouldn't understand. Let's just say that crowds of people are never where you want to be.

Above: Miles taking picture on a rainy day in London in the summer of 1973. The camera is an Olympus Pen F, a great little half-frame SLR that was my main camera for many years. As much as you can miss a mere piece of equipment, I now miss that camera, which would be stolen from my room in 1981 in Israel.
